Transformation to Unmanned Economy
The main goal of the project Transformation to Unmanned Economy (the short name of the project – IQ2Autonomy) is the transformation of the targeted sector of the economy through innovations resulting from beyond state of the art R&D, creation of a working ecosystem, building robust mutually advantageous value chains, and the identification of application domains with high added value and great exploitation potential.
The project builds on the boosting economic opportunity of unmanned vehicles – drones. The drone market reflects the market penetration by Information and communication technologies (ICT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), autonomous systems and products. Considering the geography of Slovakia, development in sectors such as ICT, aviation, agronomy, heavy industry etc. Slovakia has a huge potential to get in the centerline of top innovators in this market, especially as most of the country is rugged and mountainous where specific needs have to meet specific solutions and the country in each aspect represents an ideal testbed for unmanned vehicles. Moreover, Slovakia statistically is the world’s top automotive producer per capita, and has a significant aeronautic industry involvement. The project aims to boost creative abilities by cooperating with the frontrunners of R&D&I abroad and connect innovators within the country in order to become not just a part of this innovation chain, but also to become a driver of this market. The Global Drone Market is expected to reach USD 541 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 38,6% during the forecast period 2022 to 2030, but we are also expecting that the market will grow even further, and we will certainly contribute to this growth.

The main objective of the project is to create a drone-supporting ecosystem via creating a knowledge base for the elaboration of an overarching legislative framework for the effective and secure provision and putting into operation of unmanned vehicles with respect to the nature of purpose. Based on that, generating know-how will serve as a framework for further scientific/research and commercial exploitation as well as possibly standardization in order to facilitate the application of the results into social and economic practice. Such a framework will establish long-term collaborations and baseline joint activities of the associated partners in the field of research and innovation beyond the duration of the project.
The project will also contribute to catching up with the international obligations Slovakia agreed to implement while having the opportunity to transform a part of the Slovak economy into a position where Slovakia may well be able to set the pace in the development of certain technological solutions valid not only in Europe but also worldwide.
